In the Life: Spring on 4th, What’s on 3rd?

The delicious smell of chili was wafting through the air Saturday on Bethlehem’s South Side, letting people know that the 15th annual chili cookoff was underway. It, however, was just one facet of a large collection of events that make up Spring on 4th festival. As I approached the corner of 4th and New Streets, I could hear the reggae beats of Trouble City calling to me from the Funhouse, which was filled with sand to celebrate the beach party theme–getting people ready for summer! Around the corner, Homebase Skateshop had some pretty awesome biking and skating contests that drew quite a crowd. Up at Campus Square, Community Artists of Bethlehem gathered together and sold their best wares at the 5 Alarm Art Fair. All the local business and restaurants who participated in the chili contest did such a wonderful job. It was so hard to choose.  Congratulations to Tulum for winning the People’s Choice award and to the Lehigh Pub for winning for Judge’s Choice award. There was hooping, dancing, $2 margaritas, chili, art, biking, skating, painting, family and friends everywhere. Check out the pictures and leave some love!
