1. Grand Opening of the Bethlehem Skateplaza

Friday 4 pm through Sunday 8 pm, Bethlehem Skateplaza, 1325 Steel Ave., Bethlehem

Ten years in the making and it’s finally here! Come celebrate the Grand Opening of the Skateplaza! There will be food, music, skating and riding, and too much to list here. But the weather’s supposed to be beautiful and this will be the place to be! This is a family-friendly event… bring everyone!

2. Lehigh Valley Sportsfest

Friday through Sunday, Various Venues throughout Allentown

With 10,000 amateur athletes, and 150,000 spectators, you don’t want to miss this! Created in 1996, Lehigh Valley Sportsfest was created to utilize the resources of the Lehigh Valley and to promote amateur athletic competition and to encourage health and fitness for the benefit of our youth and the wellness of our community. Proceeds benefit inner-city high schools in the Lehigh Valley.

3. Derriere in the Delaware

Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm, Eddyside Beach, Easton

Enjoy a day of fun and sun as you float down the scenic Delaware River at this annual tube float! Launch at Eddyside Beach and end at the Phillipsburg, NJ Boat Launch… and then take the shuttle back up and do it again! and again… as many times as you want til it ends! Cost: $5 (plus $5 to rent an inner tube). Proceeds benefit Police Athletic League (PAL) For more info: 610-905-5433

4. 25th Annual Blueberry Festival

Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 7 pm, Burnside Plantation, 1461 Schoenersville Road, Bethlehem

All hail the blueberry! Historic Bethlehem’s Blueberry Festival returns for its 25th year! This will be a weekend of great food, live music and family fun at Burnside Plantation – our farm in the city.

5. George Hrab and Triologic

Friday from 8 pm to 11 pm, Godfrey Daniels, 7 E. 4th St., Bethlehem

Check out some of the Valley’s most unique and talented musicians at one of the Valley’s greatest [not-for-profit] listening rooms.

6. Easton Farmers’ Market 258th Birthday Celebration

Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm, Centre Square, Easton

Yes, you read that right… America’s oldest, continuous open-air market turns 258 years old this Saturday! Live music, games for kids, and of course… birthday cake! And the bounty is quite abundant, as well. Check out Beechwood Orchard’s blueberries and peaches!

7. Opening Reception: The Art of Jason Lynn aka Johnny Stilleto

Saturday from 8 to 11 pm, Art N Soul Studios, 516 W. Hamilton St., Allentown

The description of this show is a must-read and the show looks like it will be a must-see… and the gallery a must-visit!

8. “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” Musical

Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8 pm to 11 pm, Muhlenberg College, Allentown

9. Great Eastern U.S. Antique Book, Paper & Advertising Show

Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm, Lehigh Valley Agri-Plex, Allentown Fairgrounds

So this event’s my idea of a really good time! It includes Pop Culture, Memorabilia and Paper Collectibles. I’d be like a kid in a candy shop here!
