1. Palmer Community Weekend
Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Fairview Park, Easton
This annual community fair has it all… music, food, games, kids’ entertainment, fireworks and even hot air balloon rides! And if you go Friday night, stop by and say hi to my parents… they’ll be selling the popcorn. Yes, Palmer is the Motherland… at least for me.
2. 30th Annual Roasting Ears of Corn Native American Festival
Saturday and Sunday, 10 am to 6 pm, Museum of Indian Culture, 2825 Fish Hatchery Road, Allentown
The 30th Annual Roasting Ears of Corn Festival will feature Native American dancers and performers, including Aztec fire dancers, vendors, demonstrators, food, and a children’s craft table.
3. 4th Annual Tomato Festival and Salsa Contest
Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm, Centre Square, Easton
This is one of the premiere events of the summer at the Easton Farmers’ Market! From EFM’s website: “Come celebrate Summer’s sweetest gift, the TOMATO! Enjoy bruschetta, gazpacho, and fried green tomatoes while you groove to Hector Rosado and his Latin Band or catch the LV Steel Drum Ensemble. Enter our contests for Best Salsa or Best Tomato Sauce (contests open to home cooks and restaurants). Got a green thumb? Enter out Tomato Growers contest… Prizes for biggest, ugliest and best tasting tomatoes.” While you’re there, don’t forget to VOTE! Easton Farmers’ Market is currently in 1st place… in the country! Let’s keep it there!
4. Hellertown/Lower Saucon Township Community Day
Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm, around Hellertown Bourough Hall, Main St., Hellertown
While online info about this seems to be sparse, I think this little celebration is definitely worth checking out. I’ve always liked Hellertown a lot.
5. 5th Annual Doggie Dips
Saturday from 12 to 4 pm, Mack Pool, Mack Blvd. & Dixon St., Allentown
It’s time to take your dogs swimming! For a small donation, your dog gets to go to the pool for the day and you get to help the Lehigh County Humane Society. Dogs must be friendly, up to date on vaccinations and know the doggie paddle. 🙂
6. Canal Boat Evening Cruise
Sunday at 5:30, Hugh Moore Park, Easton
The most unique dinner around! From the CANALendar: Please join us for a unique 2 1/2 hour dinner cruise. Enjoy a catered meal and colorful stories and music as you cruise on the restored Lehigh Canal aboard the canal boat Josiah White II. Departs at 5:30 pm with music by Karen Ann Litecky. Michael’s Country Caterers serves baked lemon chicken, Penne pasta with fresh pesto and tomatoes, mixed greens with blueberries and garden vegetables with raspberry vinaigrette, lemonade, iced tea, watermelon, rolls and brownies. $40/person.
7. Movies in the Park – Coraline
Saturday from 6 to 11 pm, Rose Garden, 8th Ave & Union Blvd, Bethlehem
Grab your lawnchair or blanket and head to the park for a FREE movie! All movies begin at twilight, but come early for the pre-show festivities or just to grab a hot dog and meet your neighbors. Rain date will be one week later. Check out the Movies, Games & More website for all the details.
8. The Girl Who Played with Fire – Opens Friday!

9. Almighty Terribles at Pearly Baker’s
Friday at 10 pm, 11 Centre Square, Easton
One of the Valley’s best bands plays in a classic restaurant & bar. Check out the great beer selection and locally sourced menu. Outside seating available. The Circle can be its own entertainment on a Friday night!
