1. Lehigh Valley with Love Prom to Benefit MS
Saturday from 8pm to 2am, Molly’s Irish Bar & Grille, 4 E. 4th St., Bethlehem
Just like high school, except without all the awkward moments. Do a retro prom outfit, current style or whatever you want. This is the first ever Lehigh Valley Prom and is not to be missed. Brought to us by the fine men and women of Lehigh Valley with Love and WINK Magazine, all proceeds will be given to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. 2. 2nd Friday Spotlight
Friday starting at 6:30, Christine’s Secret Garden, 249 Northampton St., Easton
Come out and meet WIAIPA’s artist, Debbie Jenkins, and see her create her beautiful one of a kind jewelry and hear Anthony Zucchero, winner of Best Electric Guitarist for the Lehigh Valley Music Awards 12 and member of Peacekeeper. 2nd Friday is sponsored by Women in the Arts in PA and the LVMA.
3. Script Reading/Feedback Session for Zeke Zelker’s Latest Project
Saturday from 12:30 to 3:30pm, Civic Theatre of Allentown’s 19th St. Theatre, 527 19th St., Allentown
Zeke Zelker and Civic Theatre are inviting YOU, the citizens of the Lehigh Valley and beyond, to a script reading of his latest project Billboard, an Uncommon Contest for Common People. This will be an entertaining experience where actors read the script in character and the audience provides feedback on the script. YOU can help Zeke make this movie the best it can possibly be! 4. Elvis Birthday Bash
Saturday at 7:30pm, The State Theatre, 453 Northampton St., Easton
Celebrate the State Theatre’s 15th Anniversary Elvis Birthday Bash with Ultimate Tribute Show! The Elvis Birthday Bash pays homage to the King of Rock ‘N Roll with Scot Bruce as the young heartbreaker and Mike Albert as the seasoned “Vegas-style” Elvis.
5. WDIY Listener Appreciation Party
Saturday from 7 to 11pm, 301 Broadway, Bethlehem
WDIY live broadcast 16th anniversary party at its studios. FREE for all WDIY members. Nonmembers can join by buying paying a basic membership fee for admission. Jazz/funk band The Subtle Experience. 1920s-era jazz sounds of Drew Nugent and the Midnight Society. The Large Flowerheads play 9:30-11pm. Catered by McCarthy’s Tea Room and feature craft beer from Fegley’s Brew Works. Studio tours, silent auction of music-related items & opportunity to meet station’s staff, board of directors & on-air personalities.
6. Rainbow’s End Desserts Sampling & Book Signing
Sunday at 12:30pm, Moravian Book Shop, 428 Main St., Bethlehem
For more than ten years, Rainbow’s End Desserts owner Laura Kuhnen has been experimenting with hundreds of dessert possibilities and delivering the very best of them to delighted restaurant owners, wedding parties, birthdays, and private parties. In her recipe book, Laura has created and assembled more than one hundred of her fabulous dessert recipes. Stop by this event to sample some of the recipes and pick up a copy of her book to make these desserts yourself!
7. Bethlehem Area Public Library Book Sale
Saturday from 10am to 4pm, Bethlehem Area Public Library, 11 W. Church St., Bethlehem
Stop by one of the Valley’s best book sales and stock up on stuff to get you through the rest of winter! The sale boasts at least 10,000 books, movies & music and is set up like a book store. Volunteers sort everything by author or subject. There are no boxes on tables. Go to the section that interests you and start browsing for treasures! Authors are arranged alphabetically and divided between novels, thrillers, hard covers, trade books, and paperbacks. There is a separate children’s section. Teens have their own section.
8. Art Exhibit – Jill Odegaard: ‘Intersections’
Ongoing through January 22nd, Cedar Crest College, Allentown
This is the second to the last weekend to see this exhibit. “Intersections” reflects Odegaard’s work with fabric and imagery suggestive of the intersection of woven materials as part of an organizational structure, as well as the influence that her co-existing roles as teacher, administrator, wife and mother have had on her art. Sources of inspiration include patterns and systems found in nature, grid structures, board games, design elements and fiber art techniques and traditions.
9. Family Circle/Martin Luther King Day of Drumming
Monday from 10:30am to 11:30am, Dave Phillips Music, 622 Union Blvd., Easton
This is the 8th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day event. It is a fundraiser with proceeds going to St. Luke’s Hospice. More info and registration: LvDrumCircle.com
