1. Steel Jam

Friday, 5pm to 11pm, Saturday, 11am to 11:30pm, Sunday & Monday, 11am to 11pm, SteelStacks Campus, 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem

Now that Irene is out of the way, it’s time to get out of the house and have some fun, so why not head over to SteelStacks for Steel Jam. This is a multiple day musical event featuring bands, movies, and even glass-making where you can make your own glass sculptures.  Ticket prices very so please see the website for event and package pricing.

2. Great Allentown Fair

Tuesday, 4pm to 11pm, Wednesday through Sunday, 12pm to 11pm, Monday, 12pm to 10pm, Allentown Fair Grounds, 302 N. 17th Street, Allentow

The summer is quickly drawing to a close but there’s still time for festivals at this Lehigh Valley classic. The Great Allentown Fair has something for everyone, from concerts, contests, carnival rides, and even animals.  This is a great atmosphere with fun for the entire family.

3. The SteelStacks Eco Film Festival

Friday, 8pm, to Sunday, 6pm, Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas, 101 Founder’s Way, Bethlehem

Get in touch with some of our most important environmental issues at the Eco Film Festival. Documentaries will be shown portraying real problems that will or already will impact our daily lives. Local environmental experts will be on hand for question and answer discussions after each film.

4. Live at Riverside: The Large Flowerheads with the School of Rock

Friday, 6 pm to 9:30 pm, Riverside Park, Larry Holmes Dr, Easton

Take a trip back in time and listen to the music of the 60’s with The Large Flowerheads. This group recreates the sights and sounds of one of the most unique eras in music.  The Bank Street School of Rock will also be the opening act, setting the stage for this groovy band.

Ferris Beuller’s Day Off

Monday, 2 pm, Frank Banko Alehouse Cinema, 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem

As part of the John Hughes tribute, the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinema will be showing Ferris Beuller’s Day Off.  You won’t be able to resist quoting along with the movie and remembering some of the most memorable scenes in all of late 20th century cinema. This 80’s classic is always fun to watch and certainly a great show to check out on your day off!

6. First Friday

Friday, 6pm to 10pm, 3rd and New St., Bethlehem

It’s First Friday again in Bethlehem! This month is featuring a “University City” celebration as students head back to school.  Visit the indie mart and local vendors for food, fresh fruit, music, and wine samples.  This is a great time to get out and shop at the local businesses.

7. Post Junction at the Funhouse

Saturday, 10 pm to Sunday, 1 am, The Funhouse, 5 E. 4th St., Bethlehem

Come out and give a warm welcome to Post Junction as they debut their new lead singer, Robbi K.  Robbi K is a very accopmplished musician and has performed with some of the strongest voices in the industry.  This band will be playing music from many great acts and is sure to take you back.

8. Butterfly Tagging Demo and Attracting Butterflies Book Signing

Saturday, 2pm to 4pm, Moravian Book Shop, 428 Main St., Bethlehem

Everybody loves butterflies and this is a great way to learn more about them.  Ron Rachel, author of Attracting Butterflies, will be at the Moravian Book Shop to sign copies of his book as well as discuss the best ways to attract butterflies and how to create the correct garden to keep them around.  If you have ever wanted to have a butterfly garden, then this is definitely an event you won’t want to miss.

9. VegFoods Week

Sunday, September 4 through Saturday, September 10, Participating Restaurants, Bethlehem

This Sunday marks the beginning of VegFoods Week in Bethlehem.  Various restaurants throughout the city will be providing vegetarian dishes at special prices.  This is a good opportunity to embrace your inner vegetarian and try some really wonderful restaurants.  Make your mom happy and go eat your veggies!
