By Laini Abraham and Katie Vogel
1. Banana Factory Holiday Open House
Sunday, 12pm to 5pm, The Banana Factory, 25 W. Third St., Bethlehem
Well, it’s the middle of December and that means the holidays are right around the corner. If you haven’t gotten your shopping done yet though, here’s a great chance to get something really unique for your friends and family at the Banana Factory Holiday Open House. Buy items that local artists have made, get to meet the makers, and find out about upcoming events at the factory too!
2. _Technifying Show Opening
Saturday, 6pm to 10pm, Soft Machine Gallery, 725 North 15th Street, Suite 7, Allentown
It’s art meets technology at the Technifying Show opening. This exhibit features art influenced by various technological elements and ideas. It’s creative expression that goes a little off the beaten path yet forges a way for a new style. This very modern show will be running from December 17th through January 18th.
3. Yoga Under the Sphere
Sunday, 5:30pm to 7:30pm, Nature Nurture Center, 518 Northampton Street, Easton
There is something to be said about finding peace with yourself and caring for our planet at the same time. This Sunday, at Yoga Under the Sphere, you will get the chance to combine the two. While celebrating the Winter Solstice, learn how to take care of your health and the health of our planet. This is an open level class and is a great chance to try yoga if you haven’t done it before!
4. Katie’s Pick — Horse-Drawn Carriage Tours
Daily through December 30, 4pm to 10pm, Historic Bethlehem, 505 Main Street, Bethlehem
The holiday season can be a very romantic time of year, and what’s a more romantic way to spend an evening with that special someone, than a carriage ride through the Christmas City. View the city from the comfort of a horse-drawn carriage while snuggling up next to your significant other. Tickets for the rides can be purchased at the Visitor’s Center, but be quick, because these often sell out fast.
5. Baum School of Art’s Annual Holiday Gallery and Sale
Friday and Saturday, 9am to 3pm, Baum School of Art, 510 West Linden Street, Allentown
There’s more art for purchase this holiday season at the Baum School of Art. The cool thing about giving something artistic or handcrafted is that it is never the same twice and there is no way anyone else can give them the same gift! Not only do you find some really great stuff, but you get to support local artists in their livelihood too.
6. R&R Provision Online Store Launch
Saturday, 11am to 3pm, R&R Provision, 1242 Northampton St, Easton
While the holidays are a great time for friends and family, there are some that still need a little help in these tough times. As a strong business staple in the Easton community, R&R Provisions has provided many wholesale foods to restaurants and people in the area, and as part of their Online Store launch this weekend, they have partnered with Beginning Over Foundation to support a family in need this holiday season. Not only will you be able find and taste fresh new foods, but you will be able to help a family in need, and there is no greater gift than the feeling you get when you make someone else’s life better.
7. March for Justice and Democracy
Saturday, 10am to 12 pm, Hamilton and 7th, Allentown
One of the greatest things about our country is that we can stand up for what we believe in, and the March for Justice and Democracy is true to that spirit. The cities of the Lehigh Valley will be alternating Saturdays for their marches for people to express their concerns and make their voices heard. We can all believe that things need to change, but in order to create the change, we have to do this together.
8. Winter Wellness Open House
Sunday, 1pm, 3pm, Kula Heart Yoga, 3864 Courtney St., Suite 150, Bethlehem
As per the facebook event page: Need some TLC this Holiday? Come join us on December 18th between 1-3 pm for some great prizes to win as well as getting pampered by our lovely therapists. Bring yourself and a friend! There will also be demos, prizes, gift card specials and more!
