1. PBS Restaurant Walking Tour
Sunday from 1 to 4 pm, Downtown Easton
From Kelly Huth’s article: “Three days. Three cities. Thirty-plus restaurants. Here’s your chance to taste the flavors the Lehigh Valley has to offer.” This week kicks off in Easton. As mentioned, this is also a great opportunity to check out the pocket guide to Easton’s Walking Tour of the Jewel Box.
2. Sunday Brunch for Japan
Sunday from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, Historic Hotel Bethlehem, 437 Main St., Bethlehem
This Sunday, the General Manager of the Hotel Bethlehem, Dennis Costello has decided that all proceeds from the Sunday Brunch will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross. The menu will even feature Japanese specialties and there will be representatives from Bethlehem’s Sister City Association, as well. Tondabayashi, Japan is a sister city to Bethlehem. 3. First Friday in Bethlehem
Friday from 6 to 10 pm, All over South Side Bethlehem
Highlights from tonight’s First Friday include the Grand Opening celebration at Terra Café which includes the art of Joey Gourniak. Also check out the huge jewelry sales, new window display and wine at Loose Threads Boutique which is just around the corner. Tea samplings are available at Tallarico Chocolates, so even if it’s still cold, you’ll still be able to stay warm.
4. Hope for Allentown III – A Benefit Concert
Sunday for 2 to 8 pm, Zing Bar & Grill, 750 N. West End Blvd., Quakertown
From the Facebook Event Page: “The Lehigh Valley Music Awards (LVMA) and Women In Art In PA (WIAIPA) continue to produce a series of fundraising events to aide the victims of the devastating explosion that took innocent lives, destroyed several homes and left many people displaced with nothing but the clothes on their backs. There is a great need here and as a community we must rally together to do what we can to help. All donations are tax deductible and 100% of the proceeds will be given to the victims.”
5. Community Rally for Education
Saturday from 12 to 2 pm, Bethlehem City Hall, 10 E. Church St. Bethlehem
If you care about the future of public education and would like to do something about it, this rally is for you. As they say, “It takes a community to raise a child.”
6. Bethlehem Community Day
Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm, Historic Bethlehem, 3rd and New Sts., Bethlehem
Celebrate Spring with FREE access to all Historic Bethlehem Partnership museums and sites.
7. Southside Film Institute’s “$1000 Night”
Saturday from 6 to 9:30 pm, Bethlehem Comfort Suites, 120 W. Third St., Bethlehem
This just in! This is a very cool annual fundraiser for the SouthSide Film Festival. There’s lots of great food and lots and lots of prizes, even a chance to win $1000. So if you were planning on gambling, you may want to add this to your list of stops. At least you know the money you put down will be going to a great cause.
8. Greater Lehigh Valley Auto Show
Friday through Sunday, Stabler Arena, Bethlehem
Even though I’ve never been really into cars, cars are an important part of our lives. If you’re shopping for a new car, looking to see what’s new in the world of cars (fuel efficiency, maybe? Time to get a hybrid?), or if you are someone who just really loves them, this is the weekend event in the Lehigh Valley for you.
9. Watch the Premiere of “Foul Hook’d”
Saturday at 10:30 pm, Sportsman Channel (seen locally on Channel 225 Blue Ridge Cable; 605 DirecTV and 285 and 395 Dish Network)
“Foul Hook’d” is a brand new comedy series produced by, created by and starring people from the Lehigh Valley. From the Morning Call story: “Foul Hook’d” centers around Jimmy, played by Bethlehem resident Jeff Hartney, who decides to abandon office life to combine his twin passions of TV and fishing.
