Laini’s List of Things to Do This Weekend in the Lehigh Valley – April 13–15

1. Silent Art Auction Benefit for Pat Sonne

Saturday from 4 to 7pm, Lafayette’s Williams Visual Arts Building, 243 N. 3rd St., Easton

Area artists are holding a silent auction to benefit Patricia Sonne, the region’s premier fine arts model, who contracted Lyme Disease last year and has been unable to work for the last eight months. Sonne is finally getting back on her feet and the local art community is joining forces to raise money to help cover her doctor and hospital bills. Artists who have donated work for the auction include Isadore LaDuca, Ken Kewley, Emil Lukas, Claire Lukas, Lucy Gans, Kim Robertson, Berrisford Boothe, Jim Toia, Ed Kerns, Curlee Holton and many others. 2. Farm Fest

All day Saturday, Lehigh Valley Zoo, 5150 Game Preserve Road, Schnecksville

From Zoo News: Join us this Saturday for Farm Fest! Buy Fresh Buy Local Farmers’ Market, Compost for Kids Display by Master Gardeners, Old Time Plow Boys Tractor Display, Farm-Friendly Mascots, Griesemer Beekeeping, the Pennsylvania Dairy Princess and a Blue Grass Band!

 

3. Danielle Lubené Band at the Funhouse

Saturday from 10pm to 2am, The Funhouse, 5 E. 4th St., Bethlehem

It’s not called the Funhouse for nothin’. If you haven’t experienced it, this is a good time to go find out for yourself.

 

4. ACE 14th Annual Open Studio Arts Tour

Saturday and Sunday until 5pm, Various Locations throughout Easton

The ACE 14th Annual Open Studio Arts Tour is a self-directed walking tour of Easton’s galleries, studios, and creative spaces. Some of the locations are a little farther out, but definitely worth taking a short drive!

 

5. Spring Wine & Food Festival

Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5pm, Bear Creek Mountain Resort, 101 Doe Mountain Lane, Macungie

The Spring Wine & Food Festival is a two-day event featuring a Grand Tasting on Saturday and a Gourmet Tasting on Sunday. Each day will offer different seminars and wine related events such as a wine pairing dinner and a poolside port tasting. Guests will receive a commemorative wine tasting glass, event program and  access to Wine Check services. 6. 28th Annual Antique City Fun Fair

Saturday from 10am to 6pm, Sunday from 10am to 5pm, Lehigh University’s Rauch Field House, Bethlehem

The 28th Antique City Fun Fair features exhibitors from 32 states, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, France and Italy. This year’s fair will observe the 100th anniversary of the RMS Titanic tragedy by presenting items removed from the world’s largest ocean liner. These artifacts are the only pieces that the public can legally own and one will be presented with a certificate of authenticity to a visitor every hour throughout the weekend. Attendees can learn the value of their own treasures from a panel of experts in a format similar to the Antiques Roadshow. The fee of $5 per item and all Sunday box office ticket sales will be donated to the new Pediatric Unit at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital in Allentown and The Sanctuary at Haafsville, where animals are provided with a temporary or permanent home in a humane and respectful way.

 

7. Grand Opening Party for The Denim Project

Saturday from 5 to 8pm, The Denim Project, 140C Northampton St., Easton

Celebrate the grand opening of downtown Easton’s coolest new shop. Enjoy some food, drinks, and music as they show off all the colorful new styles for spring. DJ Telly will be providing his special blend of forward-thinking music for the night.

 

8. An Evening (or Two) With ArtsQuest and Lehigh’s College of Education

Sunday and Tuesday evenings at 7pm, Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas, ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem

Screenings of two films that capture the intense discussion about the charter school movement. Some of the leading voices from the area’s educational community will be available for panel discussions immediately following the films.

 

9. Lafayette Event

Tuesday at 8pm, Lafayette College, Kirby Gym, Easton

Three groups perform one great concert. Hot Chelle Rae, The Dean’s List, and 3LAU will all be in Easton Tuesday night.
