Put on your walking shoes and do some good!
ProJeCt of Easton is proud to be one of the 23 local non-profit organizations participating in the 7th Annual Highmark Blue Shield Walk for a Healthy Community which will take place on June 12, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. in historic downtown Bethlehem, PA on Sand Island. In addition to being a beautiful walk, this annual event benefits local, nonprofit health and human service agencies across the Lehigh Valley.
It’s a 5K walk or one-mile “fun run” that’s sponsored by Highmark Blue Shield. The event benefits 23 different non-profit organizations in the region, including American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley, Habitat for Humanity of the Lehigh Valley and ProJeCt of Easton.
ProJeCt’s’s mission is to help people help themselves, and as you get some exercise and take in all the historic architecture along the way you’ll be doing just that. Since this is a fundraiser, your time will help support an agency that assisted more than 4,400 families in the Lehigh Valley last year through its social and educational services, such as a food pantry and Green Legacy Garden, rental and emergency assistance, adult and family literacy programming, ESL classes, Early Childhood Education, and an award-winning children’s summer reading program.
Watch this video here to learn how ProJeCt is working to create a more vibrant community. Because of our rough economy, it has become even more important for people to complete their education, sharpen their skills, improve their job prospects and become productive, engaged citizens.
