The Lehigh Valley’s Newest Place to Find Local Food Opens – It’s the SteelStacks Farmers’ Market!

With the sun shining, the new SteelStacks Farmers’ Market opened last week (Tuesday, May 10th) at PNC Plaza in Southside Bethlehem. The market is a producer-only market: vendors may only sell producets that they themselves grow, raise, or produce. Thirty-seven vendors offered fresh produce, pastured meat and eggs, herbs, flowers, wine, wool, baked goods, prepared foods, and crafts while the music of 3AM filled the air. Blue Blaze Farm had beautiful heads of red-leafed lettuce and bunches of purple carrots. Bechdolt Orchards had tubs full of spring asparagus, rhubarb, and green onions. Every herb imaginable was available from Quartz Hill Farm. And if all that shopping made you hungry, Valley View Farm had the grill fired up to offer sausage on a bun in addition to their pastured eggs and meats. It was hard to resist all the delicious baked goods; the currant scones from Pappy’s Orchard were particularly tasty. And many enjoyed the wine samples at Vynecrest Winery. The market is open every Tuesday, from 3 pm to 7 pm.
